Watch this video that makes a mockery of contemporary-relevant worship. It comes from North Point Community Church, a Contemporary Church mecca. The sad thing is, although North Point is hyperbolically addressing the over-relevant, over-informal, self-centered, psycho-therapeutic style in Contemporary Church worship, the video pretty accurately portrays the neutered structure of contemporary worship. Both are serious problems. Thanks, Brian, for sending me the video.

Wait, I don't understand. Are they trying to change what they portray? Are they making fun of themselves? How is this helping their church? I'm very confused.

I don't whether to laugh or cry, but my heart is filled with the conviction to seek the Lord's face and beg for a deeper and richer, Christ-centered and Spirit empowered communion with our Holy Abba as we worship together.

Wow. This video is extremely interesting. But it is the fact that NPCC created it that has me confused like Michelle. Maybe its like when I make self deprecating jokes about my thinning hair, I essentially admit the obvious so that my friends won't get in the first dig. Funny they didn't use someone with the mojo of Steve Fee or Phil Wickham to play the worship leader. Reminds me of another video I believe was developed by Eagle Brook Church, similar approach to ministry as NPCC in the twin cities, just google "A Visit to Stale Lake Community Church".

The video - which is clearly a satire on the dangers of formulaic worship whatever the style - has been reposted here:-
