It was a pleasure meeting you at the retreat. I wholeheartedly agree with you. Terry's talk and the quote from Matt Redman have a been a subtle yet huge encouragement over the past few weeks. I have found myself excited and honored to play my role in the local church. I have not shared the quote with my worship cohorts yet, but as soon as I'm done posting this comment there will be a mass email going out.

You made the right call, and the gift of Matt to the worship community today is his unrelenting belief in this core role of the worship leader - to serve and be served by a local group of Jesus followers.

Money and recognition are powerful draws in the life of any creative. The impulse is to "go big" so the bills are paid by public response to our creative craft.

But 'going small' is the key to lasting friendships, mutual support, and embodying a real, communal way of doing life in the way of Jesus.

There is no higher call. In our new location, we remain connected to our distant community where we lived the past years, but are questing to understand how embracing our local geographic church is to be fleshed out.
